This quick reference guide describes how to search for and create transactions in FINET.
Enter:
1. In the Transaction Code field, enter the Transaction (document) code you would like to create.
2. In the Transaction Dept field, enter your department code.
3. In the Transaction Unit field, enter your unit code. (optional for many transactions)
4. In the Transaction ID field, enter the unique ID number that should be assigned to your transaction or a prefix number.
5. Select the Auto Numbering checkbox if auto numbering is being used.
6. Click the Continue button in the upper right to create the draft transaction.
The draft transaction is created using the ID assigned or the system assigned number and prefix (optional) if auto numbering was used.
Enter the same information in the draft transaction. Users enter information in tabs. Within each tab, users enter information in the primary area or in sub tabs, accessed by clicking the expand arrow in a section or row.
Three-dot menus
The transaction level actions are in the three-dot menu at the top right of the page. It allows you to take actions, like Copy, Copy Forward, or Discard and view Document References. Some transactions have a tab level three-dot menu to take action on a specific tab, like Load Values on a VCM. Most rows (records) in a grid have a three-dot menu to view related pages or take actions on the row, like Copy, Delete or Recalculate
Accounting Lines.
Grid icons
Use the grid level icons to insert a new row in the grid, delete a row from the grid, copy a selected row, paste a copied row, export a row or all rows, and undo the grid action.
Expand arrows
Click the Expand arrow on the left of a row to see additional information for the row organized into sub tabs.
When data entry is complete, click Validate. Correct any hard errors and click Validate until the transaction validated successfully message is displayed. The errors display at the top of the page. You can click the Show all messages with details icon in the upper right, open the message panel, and view all messages at the same time.
The errors are still marked as Warning with a yellow triangle, Information with a blue square, or Error with a red hexagon. Error level messages must be fixed before the transaction can be submitted.
Some errors in the Message Panel are displayed as a link (shown in blue text) to the error field. Other errors (shown in black text) do not link to the error. Errors cannot link to the field when they are related to multiple lines or are summarized—like a budget error.
When the transaction validated successfully message is displayed, click Submit. The transaction status will change to Pending and will route for approval based on workflow rules or will change to Final if no workflow rules are created.
